Two Mobile DACs And A Gaming DAC Pro S
Sharkoon just released three DACs, the Mobile DAC, Mobile DAC PD and the Gaming DAC Pro S overseas, with prices of €14.99, €19.99 and €29.99 respectively. They do not seem to be available in NA quite yet but hopefully they will arrive soon, as they offer a handy way to upgrade the output of your devices to 24-bit/96 kHz.
The Sharkoon Mobile DAC is 14cm (5.5″) in total length, including the USB-C and 3.5mm plugs, perfect for tossing in a pocket on the way out the door. It supports Windows, macOS, and Linux, including Android and while it claims to have three presets TechPowerUp discovered there are actually four; RTFM being good advice after all.
The Sharkoon Mobile DAC PD is so named because it supports power delivery so you can keep listening to your phone while you charge it, a feature far too uncommon these days. On one side is a USB-C plug, on the other a USB-C port and a 3.5mm TRRS jack to allow the use of a microphone, the bottom lets you cycle between 44, 48, and 96kHz outputs as well as an indicator which informs you if you are charging below or above 5V. It offers the same audio quality as the non-PD version.
Last is the Sharkoon Gaming DAC Pro S for those that haven’t jumped into USB-C to be able to enjoy better audio. It offers a single 3.5mm TRRS jack and is able to switch between 44, 48, or 96 kHz output on the fly. Take a look through the reviews of each and maybe keep your eyes open for their impending arrival on this side of the pond.
